Dr. William Maynard (Dr. Joe) graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He received his B.S. in Biology from Wright State University. A longtime Springfield native, he graduated from Northwestern High School. He served as a combat medical specialist in the U.S. Army before continuing as an EMT in the civilian world. While taking classes at Wright State, he became more interested in the veterinary side of medicine and has been hooked ever since, working at another Springfield clinic before, during, and after vet school. Now he is proud to be branching out on his own and is excited to bring high-quality medicine and surgery to the new practice. He has two sons, some ornery cats, and a camera that he loves more than his own wife!
Dr. Nikki Maynard (Dr. Nikki) originally hailed from the Urbana area and graduated from Graham High School. She attended Miami University and received her B.A. in Biology from Wittenberg University. After receiving her doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, she spent 3 years as a mixed animal practitioner before starting a new adventure as a small animal practice owner. An avid horsewoman, she showed her Arabian horse in hunt seat and dressage for years. She lives for international travel, hiking, theater and music, and torturing Joe with cooking experimentation. Her newest adventure is spending time with a baby boy!
After almost 30 years in Mortgage Banking, Bonnie Jamison chose to retire early to make time for a career of the heart. She brings to her job as receptionist at MRVH much experience working with animals. Her dogs, Skye and Buddy, are her animal assisted therapy partners as they volunteer in the community, both in Champaign and Clark County. Bonnie is also an evaluator for the Dogtor’s Animal Assisted Therapy program and was a positive style dog obedience instructor for 10 years with K9 Kollege, still subbing there on occasion. SamCat, adopted from the Clark County Humane Society in 2010 runs the show at home – as cats are known to do.
Olivia Ledley is a 2011 graduate of Columbus State Community College, where she earned her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. She also has two guinea pigs named Reese and Fonzi. Olivia is excited for her future as a part of the growing practice at MRVH.
Missy Nester is one of the faces you will see when you first walk into Mad River Veterinary Hospital. She is a lifelong resident of Springfield and graduated from Springfield North High School. She remained in the area graduating from Wright State University. Prior to Mad River Veterinary Hospital, she spent many years working in the social services field. She enjoys working with people and loves animals, so she can't think of a better job than this one. She is married and has two sons. They currently share their home with two dogs, two frogs, one turtle, and a very entertaining parrot.
Joe Schultheis, RVT is a graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Columbus State. He grew up just north of Dayton and attended Fairview High School. His early studies at Ohio University and Wright State University culminated in an undergraduate degree with a dual major in Environmental Science and Hydrogeology. He also attended both universities for graduate studies. As a certified professional geologist, he worked in the environmental field for over 20 years before pursuing his passion working with animals. He thinks some of the coolest animals on earth are English Springer Spaniels, contented Holstein cows, and Huacaya alpacas. For relaxation he enjoys getting dirty playing in the mud (normal people call it ceramics or pottery) and weeklong backpacking treks through Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. He is not afraid to admit he likes bluegrass music.
